Our Own Hands

Our Own Hands
Poem by Indira Shabnam ‘Indu’

How many vultures,
Have you been saved from?
You have evaded the
Jaws of many wolves
Without even being aware of it.
By a hair’s breath,
You have escaped,
Becoming a pawn
On the chess board
Why is all this happening to you?
Who had made you
Wear this armor?
Don’t you know
These hands?
Don’t you recognize
These hands?
They are your own hands!
