CSS 2010, Written Test Result

On October 14, evening the much awaited the written test result of CSS (Central Superior Services) was declared by Federal Public Service Commission. CSS in our country is considered as the supreme milestone of our youths with regard to service and employment. Every parent wishes their sons/daughters go through it and have the administrative and bureaucratic position not only to live a life of bread and butter but to have a considerable important recognition in the society and country. Thus, from all over the country thousands of youths from al strata of society, from all walks of life, our youths appear.
It is matter of happiness and distress in the context of current CSS written result. According to the result declared, 11887 candidates applied, from that 7759 candidates appeared and in result 4128 candidates dropped even to show their capacity in the examination hall. From those appeared candidates only 638 candidates got through the written competition. In the gender base division 480 male 158 females were declared pass. Over all passing percentage are 8.22, whereas the result of 4984 candidates was withheld.
From the above facts and figures, one can analyse that first of all the percentage of pass candidates is appallingly low that even could not touch the fifth part or ten percent. It can be construed from two perspectives. First as I wrote above that it is matter of happiness if the FPSC trimmed the passing candidates to the required number of seats and its ration. If matter is to trim and pass according the seats and allocations then it is matter of happiness those only 8.22 percent youths of our country came up to the top level service requirements. Secondly, if this is over all pass candidates ratio then it is matter of distress and anxiety that we could not produce the minimum ten percent of our youths to come up to the our own country’s competitive criteria.
This phenomenon can be seen from many perspective that why our youths do not come up to the satisfactory level of the competition. Firstly, our education system is not focused on the basic educational standard such as: from primary up to middle school and college levels i.e. to FA/F.sc or Intermediates level when student is ready to be molded according to the educational requirements. After this level the student gets much dominated by the previously acquired skills and habits in the graduation level that’s his deciding level to have or have not. If previously he is well trained, learning-oriented, skill-orientated education and well trained to achieve his goal he can have good utilization of the study if otherwise he will go further to his rebellious attitude or straying off behaviors.
Next, we live in the postmodern era where everything is decentered. This world is over-dubbed under the innovative science and technological development. So, everything is full of some erroneous use of either of internet, mobile, ipod, laptop etc. that is on the one hand good supporting ideal situation but on the other hand most misused stuff in this age. Our youths easily loose their concentration and mental focus on the specific theme or topic. It can well be observed while sitting in a restaurant/ hotel for tea or lunch/dinner when almost the majority of people specially youths are seen busy with their mobiles either texting of the messages or doing something else with it. They even hardly find time to take meal in discipline and have chit chat with the nearby friends or relatives cheerfully. Even Masjids are not safe from this. It can be seen in Faisal Masjid when on Friday obligatory 2 raka’t of Farad are offered people start videoing and picturing the corners of the Masjid.
All this is to focus the loosing concentration of the society and people from their actual peace of mind and creativity. Undeniably, our youths are the product of this society.
Furthermore, the intellectuality of the passing candidates can be questioned as the commission criteria is much focused and on form and structure rather than themes and understanding. Our youths who wish to appear hardly get through the books and materials rather to resort on well parrot-learned things and short-cut established ways. One can observe among them their run after pass candidates’ notes and handouts. If a candidate has a good parrot-memory or rout learning and good composure to limit his activities can go through the exams, no matter how intellectuality he possesses?
In addition to that, in the current written result, the gender based division between male and female shows that female candidates still linger in the level to compete with males. Although from previous some competitive exams female candidates competed well and had top positions as well. So, in this context the female education is much worriedly needs the proper attention and concentration.
Second appalling thing after the low percentage of passing candidates of the current CSS written test result is that the result 4984 candidates has been withheld. It is sufficient number to be apprehensive. There can be various reasons of the phenomenon such nowadays a good number of parliamentarians have been caught as availing fake degrees of graduation and sitting tensionless in the assemblies. If our top slots legislative houses are not unaffected then how the CSS candidates can not be so? Along with that there can also be other reasons such as incomplete applications, forms, caught with cheating during exams etc. but one thing is to be bothered is  that the number is well high. Therefore, those things must be declared openly so that it can be eradicated in future.
In this context, it is invited to all the stakeholders, educationists, beaurocrates, FPSC management to come up to the causes and cures in order to build the strength of the nation with sound education system.
